BLOOD AND GUTS
1 - Little to no visible blood, and most of the violence happens off-screen
2 - Some violent scenes, but nothing graphic or prolonged
3 - A few strong scenes of violence and enough blood to push the film to an R rating
4 - Several scenes of violence where the film goes out of its way to be gruesome
5 - Violence to such a degree that some audience members will look away in horror, truly horrific violence
FRIGHT FACTOR
1 - Would have trouble frightening anyone
2 - Some moments of suspense but nothing that makes us jump
3 - Cliché frights like loud noises with enough atmosphere to get our pulses racing
4 - Most of the movie is spent on the edge of our seats, both waiting and dreading what might happen next
5 - This movie continues to inspire terror even after it is over i.e. we checked under our bed that night
LAUGH FACTOR
0 - Nothing funnier than a clever remark or two
1 - A few moments that are scoffed at for being ridiculous in the context of the movie
2 - The movie has humor interjected into the plot as a way to off-set the tension
3 - The movie is self-aware and successfully makes fun of itself while delivering the plot
4 - Everything that happens in this film is absurd, intentionally or not
5 - This film has gone beyond the realm of horror and is now a comedy
